TOURISM AND CULTURE

The Pazardzhik municipality has been inhabited since the earliest antiquity, which is evidenced by the recorded settlements and settlement mounds from the New Stone, Stone-Copper, and Bronze Ages. The best known of them is the Flat Mound near the village Yunatsite and Maltepe near Ognyanovo. The location of the Settlement Mound near Yunatsite determines its high value as a concentration of multidirectional cultural influences during prehistory. So far, a medieval necropolis, a fortification from the Roman era, a Thracian settlement, and two settlements from the Stone-Copper Age have been excavated at the archaeological site.

The varied natural conditions, the abundance of natural riches, and the crossroads that today's Pazardzhik municipality occupies make it one of the centers of the ancient culture created by the Thracians, Greeks, and Romans. Over 100 settlements, more than 300 burial mounds, and flat necropolises are the monuments of antiquity. One of the largest sanctuaries of the Three Nymphs (in the village of Ognyanovo) and the sanctuary of Asclepius near St. Patalenica, dating from the 1st - the 4th century. Art. AD.

Near Sinitovo was located in the Thracian settlement Bespara - the main town of the Bessians and a way station on the central road Serdica - Philippopolis. The foundations of buildings, architectural and sculptural details, votive tablets, coins, etc., have been discovered.

During the Middle Ages, numerous Bulgarian fortresses of military-strategic and administrative importance were built here. Particularly significant is the Batkunion fortress 1 km southwest of the village. Patalenitsa. In the village, there is the unique church "St. Dimitar" - a national monument of culture from the 12th - 13th century.


Church "St. Virgin Mary'' - Cathedral Church "St. Virgin Mary'' Cathedral Church, Blvd. "Bulgaria'' № 50. Built in 1836-37. Architectural and artistic monuments of culture of national importance. The carved iconostasis is of exceptional cultural and historical value - the work of master carvers from the Debar-Minyak school, in which local craftsmen also participated. Iconostasis is one of the highest achievements of the Bulgarian fine arts during the Renaissance.


Church "St. Dimitar" - Located in Patalenitsa, Pazardzhik municipality. One of the most significant medieval monuments in Bulgaria with preserved architecture. Architectural and artistic monuments of national importance. Based on the frescoes discovered under a late plaster layer, art historian prof. Bozhkov - after making comparisons with similar monuments in Greece, Italy, Macedonia, and Yugoslavia, dates the construction and painting of the church to the end of the 12th century.


House of Nikolaki Christovic - The house is on ul. "Otets Paisii'' № 8. It was built in 1850 - the work of masters from the Bratsigovo school of architecture. Architectural and artistic monuments of culture of national importance. The two-story building is the largest preserved house in Pazardzhik from the Renaissance era. Today - ethnographic exposition of the Regional History Museum - Pazardzhik.


Konstantin Velichkov's Birth House - K. Velichkov /1855-1907/ - an active participant in the national liberation struggles, politician and statesman, poet, translator, and artist - ul. "Т. 6. It was built in 1850. Today - house-museum "K. Velichkov".


House of Stanislav Dospevsky - Located on the boulevard. "М. Louisa" № 54 - Pazardzhik. It was built in 1864 by Bratzig's masters. Architectural, artistic, and historical monuments of national importance. The house was painted by St. Dospevski /1823-1878/ - the first academic artist in Bulgaria, who graduated in portrait painting in St. Petersburg.


The building of the "Old Post Office" - The building is located on ul. "Asen Zlatarov" № 10 - Pazardzhik. It was built in 1911 according to the project of the arch. Koychev. Architectural monument of culture. In the center of the town, with a clock tower located on three streets. Also, it is the symbol of the town.


Community Center "Videlina"- The building of the "Videlina" is located on Blvd. "Bulgaria" № 25 - Pazardzhik. It was built in 1904. Architectural and historical monument of culture.


Settlement Mound "Yuntsite" - "Settlement Mound Yunatsite" is an archaeological site, located in the westernmost part of the Upper Thracian Lowland immediately next to an old riverbed. It is placed at the oldest part of the river Topolnitsa, shortly before its confluence with the river. It is located in the middle of the Tolopoli River, just before the Maritsa River. The mound itself represents successively built and destroyed settlements: 8 from the Eneolithic (Stone-Copper) Age (5th millennium BC), 17 from the Early Bronze Age (late 4th - 3rd millennium BC), and 2 from the Late Iron Age. They formed a 12 m high hill with a base diameter of 110 m. On top of it, there was a Roman-era fortification and a medieval necropolis.

Temple "St. Trinity" with Bratanitsa - Temple "St. Trinity village. Bratanitsa was built in 1872 with the voluntary donations of the villagers. The main initiator of this pious work was the local farmer Atanasaki Hadji Ivanov, who provided the place for the erection of the House of God and obtained permission from the Turkish authorities for the construction.


The Church of St. The Church of the Annunciation in Patalenitsa was built during Ottoman rule. It was built in 1806 and consecrated by Bishop Dionysius. There is also a fynĸcioĸnipaĸl school attached to the church.


Batku Monastery in Patalenitsa - Batku Monastery was built in the 12th-13th centuries. Evidence of this is a plaque with an inscription in Greek kept in the Church of St. Dimitar in the village of Patalenitsa, which indicates this period as the beginning of the construction of the monastery.


St. Mary's Church - St. Mary's Church is located in the village of St. Mary. "The Church of the Theotokos is located in Patalenitsa. It was built in 1892 on the site of an old chapel.


Shakespeare Days in Patalenitsa - Every summer in July Shakespeare Days festival takes place in Patalenitsa. The festival has live music under the stars and performances of various productions of Shakespeare's works.


Art Idea - Art Alley Festival - Every year in April, in the central parts of Pazardzhik many artists express themselves.

Every year in January an International Music Festival is organized. The tradition of the festival has a history of over 30 years
